This Month at Disney World – June 2018

There are always new and exciting things happening at Disney World.  Here are some things we are looking forward to this month.

Toy Story Land (opens June 30th)

The biggest thing happening this month happens the last day of the month.  Toy Story Land is opening in Hollywood Studios on June 30th.

If you will be at Disney World a bit earlier in the month, keep an eye out. There may be soft openings, where you can see parts of the land or ride before the official opening.

Toy Story Land is bringing 2 new rides to Hollywood Studios – Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster and Alien Swirling Saucers.  Don’t worry though, Toy Story Mania isn’t going anywhere.  It will be incorporated into the new land.

The premise to Toy Story Land is that you shrink to the size of a toy and play in Andy’s backyard with characters from the movies.

This Month at Disney World – April 2018

There are always new and exciting things happening at Disney World. Here are some things we are looking forward to this month.

Animal Kingdom’s 20th Anniversary Celebration (April 22-May 5)

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Animal Kingdom. Does that make anyone else feel old? No, just me. Okay, moving on.

The anniversary celebration begins on Earth Day, April 22nd, so Disney is expanding their Party for the Planet to include a welcome celebration, special PhotoPass opportunities, special merchandise, backstage experiences, and festival food and beverages (rumors are there will be kiosks like the Epcot festivals).

There is also a new behind the scenes tour that includes getting up-close and personal with elephants. Or if fancy food is more your style, Imagineers, animal care and conservation cast members will be hosting dinners at Tiffins.

The Party starts on April 22nd and continues through May 5.

Curious about what a Disney anniversary looks like and tips to enjoy it, check out the recap of Epcot’s 35th here.

Epcot 35 Recap and Tips for Future Disney Special Events

Epcot 35th Anniversary Celebration Recap – And Tips for your Future Disney Celebration Adventures

I am so lucky because on Sunday October 1, 2017, I got to attend the Epcot 35th Anniversary Celebration. As all the merchandise says – I was there!

For those who don’t know, Epcot was founded (as EPCOT Center) on October 1, 1982 making Sunday, October 1, 2017 the 35th Anniversary of Epcot’s grand opening.

I really feel privileged to have been able to go to the celebration. I’ve never been to a special event or celebration at Disney before. Luckily this one was on a Sunday, so I didn’t even have to take off work.

To be clear the anniversary celebration was open to all those with tickets, including Annual Passholders; it was not a hard ticket event or anything like that. Still, I’m so glad I was able to go.

This post is a recap of the Epcot 35th Anniversary celebration, including all the little touches that Disney added to make the day at Epcot special. I’ve also included tips, tricks, and hints I picked up for what I hope will be my, and your, next Disney celebration adventure. Continue reading
